Bioprocess Scientist (Dx and Therapeutics Mabs/Recombinant proteins)

Primary Job Location: Ayer Rajah Crescent, One North. Esco Aster PD (Process Development)/clinical ops, Singapore. Some travel as needed to GMP site in changi, Singapore.

Report To: CEO with external consultants/advisors that have >60 years of collective antibody engineering and expression experience in various Singapore IHLs.


  • Scaling up of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Mabs/Recombinant proteins. Projects on hand are for covid-19 Dx, Covid19 sub-unit vaccine, Covid-19 Therapeutics. Dengue Dx/Therapeutics.
    Scaling up is from 1L shake flasks into 10L->50L->200L->500L->2,000L
  • Creation of RCB using manual/ automated clone picking.
  • Process transfer of commercial biologics expressed in CHO/Hybridoma and other adherent cell lines from Roller Bottles, Hollow Fiber bioreactors and other 2D planar culture into Esco Aster adherent Tide Motion. E.g. Cho/Epo.
  • Support creation of MCBs from collaborators final Clone high producing RCB.
  • Work closely with external collaborators utilizing in silico modelling for upwards scaling.
  • Work closely with speciality Diagnostics team to produce antigens/antibodies as active ingredient for coating onto lateral flow strips, Elisa, CLIA platforms.
  • Work closely with gene therapy/gene editing/fermentation team for vector and plasmid design/upscaling.
  • Work closely with internal quality team and external regulators to ensure DS meets international standards.


  • Build and lead a team of bioprocess scientists.


  • Research officers / Research assistants.


  • PhD graduate with publications in Mabs/Recombinant proteins with at least 6 years post doc/industrial experience.
  • Experience in Mammalian cell culture in adherent and suspension Cho / Hek 293T/Hek 239S/ Insect Cells.
  • Experience in high cell density high antibody with minimum yield of 1 grams/L or higher.
  • Experience in transient transfection platforms typically using Hek 293Expi/ChoExpi or equivalent.
  • Experience in antibody characterization, analytics and binding affinity using biacore/Attana or equivalent.

Preferred Experience(s)

  • Knowledgeable in large scale perfusion single use suspension culture in 50L to 200L with mininum 2 grams/L high yield.
  • Downstream Processing (DSP) knowledge in purification of Mabs/Recombinant proteins.
  • Past patent experience on matter of composition of Mabs/Recombinant proteins.
  • Past patent experience on process patents of expressing mabs/recombinant proteins.
  • Cell line gene editing for high producing clones.
  • Omics experience in analytics of mammalian cell culture.
  • Spent media analysis for optimizing media.
  • Upscaling from microreactors such as ambr.
